I am sure the Lion should be capable of these things, but as depicted in the HH books so far, he's a complete and utter tool, who doesn't understand anyone and gets played by everyone.

The mathhammer isn't super accurate as there is some serious rounding going on, but otherwise the results are pretty much as should be expected. Fulgrim and Angron (and I guess Mortarion?) could honestly be a bit stronger than they are. Forgeworld played it really safe with the first book, so the later Legions have better rules for their Legion and Primarch.

That said, power creep isn't universal, for example. The Suzerain are great, and Guilliman as demonstrated is a beast, but the Ultramarine Legion rules and their special Rite are pretty crap. Their terminators are okay, but really expensive and take up a heavy support slot. The Locutarus are actually quite good for a jump-pack unit, but specialize in murdering power armour, which is not something Legions tend to have problems with in the first place. withershadowhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05393763821922059136noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6366962561146992018.post-26685187459804894022015-09-10T07:15:03.706+10:002015-09-10T07:15:03.706+10:00Seems in some cases some big rounding has happened...Seems in some cases some big rounding has happened in that mathhammer... For example, he's taken the 75% chance of passing the first wound guilliman takes and instead applied it as "subtract one wound from the total and then proceed with normal saves". 75% chance of success is very different to auto passing a whole wound. Lion E'Johnson and Horus Lupercal."

"Faffnr's strike came from nowhere. Guilliman had to concede the blow might have taken him by surprise. The Lion caught the blow one-handed."

"Guilliman surged forward. The Lion was faster. Guilliman was robust and dazzling, but the Lion was elegant."

It reads to me as pretty cut and dry, Guilliman cannot see the strikes coming like the Lion can, the speed and grave of the Lion far outstripping Guilliman's utilitarian skills. As for tactically, there is a reason that the Dark Angels were feared across the Imperium, feared by Horus as much as the Ultramarines and Blood Angels. The reason why the Lion was the only other option as Warmaster.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07904465965003296427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6366962561146992018.post-90132140417778844902015-08-27T04:43:33.622+10:002015-08-27T04:43:33.622+10:00Guilliman never states that the Lion is better. Guilliman overshadowed all his brothers bar Horus in the Great Crusade. He didn't even want for the title of Warmaster because he had already surpassed it. Guilliman is 100% not the toughest Primarch but he would always find a way to win (given time). He also comes out of the 2-1 with Curze a little bit better off than Jonson. Will have to see :) very interesting though.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09252506564096149264noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6366962561146992018.post-19606030884295862572015-08-26T10:03:39.972+10:002015-08-26T10:03:39.972+10:00I would like to see the Lion come to the fore pers...I would like to see the Lion come to the fore personally. What disappointed me was more the fact that Guilliman was just as flawed as any other Primarch, that he focused too much on things happening a certain way. He is so close to Horus stat and buff wise that I'm not sure how the Lion will fit into the equation with his own abilities, as in Unremembered Empire Guilliman states that the Lion is his better in every way. Will be interesting to see how it plays out anyway!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07904465965003296427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6366962561146992018.post-9607382830220874822015-08-26T01:17:47.159+10:002015-08-26T01:17:47.159+10:00Guilliman is a grade A primarch who could adapt to...Guilliman is a grade A primarch who could adapt to any circumstance. In Know No Fear it was stated that only 4 of his brothers could realistically beat him. My opinion:
1. Horus
2. Sanguinius
3. Leman Russ
4. Angron

I feel that Angrons rules are a lil bit off. We will see what happens with Sanguinius and Russ. The Khan and Lion would be a good shout too. I don't think that this is a power creep (Alan Bligh wrote all the primarch rules before the go ahead for HH series was even given). I asked him who the hardest primarch was and he said to me 'It would have to be Magnus right? But you can never discount the Lion.' We will have to see. All I am saying is Guilliman is as good as he should be. Love or hate Ultramarines their is only 1 primarch more influential in the fluff and that is Horus himself. Guilliman and Horus is a good match up, but the point stands that Guilliman is probably a bit too good, and that unfortunately, in my opinion, Forge World have written him based upon the Matthew Ward formula.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07904465965003296427noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6366962561146992018.post-41907170711474463722015-06-20T10:35:24.128+10:002015-06-20T10:35:24.128+10:00Write an article already Felix!Write an article already Felix!Keepyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02790976279112863023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6366962561146992018.post-89264300302925209962015-06-20T01:55:01.664+10:002015-06-20T01:55:01.664+10:00This fails to take into account the fact that Guil...This fails to take into account the fact that Guilliman's fist is always strength 10 and his WS would never diminish while fighting horus.

since horus' wounds calculate at less than a single wound on average, there's a solid chance Gmans WS will go up in a round too, dropping horus' effectiveness, while also upping Gman's own in turn (since less chance of getting wounded, thus more chance of getting higher WS)InquisitorFelixhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10019796643284113202noreply@blogger.com
