VIIth Legion WIP: Sigismund

1st Captain of the Seventh Legion.

I love this guy!
....and he owns anything on the table with two legs and a heart beat short of a primarch.

Blood Angel's Primarch Sanguinus was said to remark of Sigismund he seemed, ".....less my brother Dorn's champion, and more Death's himself....."

Personally i'm not a big person for playing named or special characters in 40k. I feel they sometimes lock players into mindset of play style. The 30k universe however is quite the opposite. The characters are just as full of life and story......if not more so than thier 40k kin. Being that 30k has a 'Legion' setting where a single marine is part of a battle force of tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of Astartes rather than just a 40k chapter, they can get subsumed into the mass of marines and so aren't as obviously dominating. So.....

This has allowed me to play a special character (can't wait for Dorn) and who other than 1st Captain Sigismund. I went with the standard yellow colour. By the existing stories, Sigismund did not change his armour colour to black till until the closing days of the battle for Terra. I wanted to keep him in chapter colours and adhere to fluff as much as i could.

I have made a few alterations and conversions on the model as i did not like the original pose or feel it fitted the style of Sigismund. He was always described as a zealous warrior, brash and eager to attack head on. The original En garde stance wasn't fitting of this description so i looked to convert him to be more dynamic and moving forward.

Both lower legs were removed and repositioned and then had some slight rebuilding done. The filigree just didn't seem......stoic enough for an Imperial Fist so i removed it and added some armour banding to help show the artificer armour. A little green stuff for the bottom of the tabbard completed the work for the lower half. I swapped out the sword for a slightly larger, more sturdy sword from the grey knights sprue. The original looked more elegant but as the black sword would be a focus of the model i wanted it to have a little more presence. (not to mention i think i was sick of reworking resin at the time)
