The Entire Raven Guard Legion... So Far...

For those who are curious, but haven't seen it floating around a few pages on Facestalk, here is the fully painted Raven Guard Legion so far. The weathering I do has come a long way since I started this project, but as I have to maintain a theme across the army, I continue to paint them the one way.

Enough from me, I'll just let the pictures do the talking.

  1. Ooh-la-la - that is a nice looking force with all the cool FW pieces (Sicarian/Storm Eagles).

I dont recall seeing all those character models in the post histories - any chance you can do a series on the Libby (consul), Chaplain (warden), Termie Praetor and the old Master of the Chapter model.

    1. Of course I can! I shall throw a little something together for you tomorrow. I originally did the majority of this force in just 2 weeks prior to a tournament last year, so this blog hadn't even been discussed, much less been implemented!

  2. Fantastic looking army sir.

I'm working on my own Heresy Raven Guard army and this is a huge inspiration.

Quick question, where is that landing pad from ? I could swear I've seen a similar one before somewhere.

Thanks and keep it up m

    1. I think Macca got landing pad it from the now discontinued Anphellion Base FW used to do. Much better than the current Skyshield IMO. ~Keepy

  3. How do the Whirlwinds go in 30k? Any use?

    1. Great for causing mass wounds and pinning squads, with no ATSKNF it does wonders to pin a squad for a turn or two. Not that devastating in terms of kills but the pinning and moral checks is where its at! ~Keepy

    2. I'm just hoping people don't adopt them en masse, they'll be a pain in the ass if directed at Thallax!!!

    3. Unfortunately you can only max out at 3 whirlwinds as a single squadron, and if you take them then you can't take Legion Basilisks or Medusas. The nastier version is the Scorpius pattern whirlwind, which only can be purchased in singles and takes up a heavy support slot. It is S8 AP3 with D3 +1 small blasts if it doesn't move. Although it sounds nasty, in games where I have used it, it performs rather lackluster as spreading out units means it only gets 2 or 3 kills a turn :(
